A Digital Transformation with AV and Systems Integration
Overview
An Post engaged Hereworks to deliver a digital transformation with Audio Visual and Systems Integration for their new HQ, which included the installation of 36 meeting rooms, digital signage, LED signage, energy-saving measures, streamlined communication through MS Teams, video conferencing solutions, and in-house event capabilities in their new state-of-the-art HQ. Working with Uncoded and SIA Partners, Hereworks set out to deliver state-of-the-art, user-friendly, sustainable, and future-proof technology to An Post.
About the Project
An Post moved its head office from the historic GPO on O'Connell Street to the tallest office building in Dublin - The Exo Building. Moving to this new, modern office building overlooking the city's port and quays allowed An Post to digitally transform its operations, enabling growth and helping it achieve its sustainability goals. In line with their environmental goals, The Exo building offers the most modern and sustainable office accommodation and is a LEED-Platinum certified and NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building). The property also boasts Wired Platinum accreditation and a Building Energy Rating (BER) of A3.
The Task
An Post wanted to create a vibrant space that would improve their communication, engage their staff and allow them to hold events in-house to entertain their clients, employees and stakeholders. During the consultation with An Post's stakeholders, our Project Manager, Barry White, realised An Post's previous HQ in the historic GPO building lacked AV equipment. Given this information, Barry organised a temporary Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) in the GPO so staff could gain experience with audio-visual systems before the move and be comfortable using the equipment, thus ensuring buy-in from the team.
The Solution
Hereworks facilitated a digital transformation with audio visual and systems integration with the installation of cutting-edge Crestron devices across 36 meticulously designed meeting rooms. The main boardroom has the same devices as the large and small meeting rooms. We installed Crestron booking panels, Samsung screens, Aver 520 Cameras and Biamp Speakers, equipping An Post's teams with state-of-the-art technology where collaboration is not just a term but a way of life.
Support and Managed Service
The use of AV technology has contributed to changes in the ways employees work at An Post. Now, employees have easy-to-use tools that help them be creative and develop new ideas. Communication and meetings are seamless in the ever-evolving hybrid workplace, allowing An Post to be agile. We meticulously planned and executed the installation, working closely with the client and embedding our engineers to provide a "white glove" service to ensure everyone could use the equipment and seamless integration. The project became a collaborative effort, with individuals like Barry White, Michael Joyce, Aaron Monahan, Misha Ivanovs, Geoff Carragher, and many others working together to bring the AV integration from concept to reality.
Following the handover of this project, we now have an engineer embedded full-time within An Post to maintain and service all of their equipment, ensuring minimal disruptions and downtime to their operations. With a special service level agreement, they also have access to our specialised team to support any events they are hosting.
Driving Sustainability
To achieve a more sustainable approach, we actively involved employees at all levels, ensuring their buy-in and promoting a culture of sustainability in line with An Post's policy. Crestron motion detectors provide enhanced energy-saving features, ensuring the lighting switches off after 15 minutes of no activity. New LED signage in the office helps communicate essential information in a cost-effective, lower-energy method. By thoroughly analysing the project's life cycle, from suppliers to post-life considerations, we identify areas for maximum sustainability. Our commitment extends to reusing equipment with a remaining lifespan instead of premature replacement, saving costs and aligning with our sustainability goals.

This digital transformation has helped An Post future-proof their business. The company has embraced an entirely new way of conducting meetings and collaborating. Technological limitations no longer hinder them. They find themselves empowered by the cutting-edge solutions provided by Hereworks, allowing them to grow and thrive as they venture into new markets.
In an era of hybrid work, their teams can now collaborate seamlessly, regardless of their physical location, and they can now use the modern AV infrastructure to host conferences, presentations, and gatherings by keeping events in-house. Having the ability to host events reduces the need for external venues and subsequently reduces associated costs significantly.
